TicToys: Recyclable premium cardboard. Faber-Castell works on reducing plastics or replacing them with recycled materials. The products or packaging are made of recycled plastic or cardboard. The packaging is made of recyclable cardboard. neogrün®: Our cups and labels are made of 100% polypropylene. This type of plastic is safe for food contact, BPA-free and 100% recyclable. The outer package is made exclusively of unprocessed carton. In addition, neogrün encourages upcycling before recycling – through an alternative use of cups and boxes to store household items or as a flower pot.

Raw materials from organic farming
neogrün®: We use only environmentally-friendly raw materials from sustainable sources and organic cultivation and safe vegetable and mineral pigments in food or cosmetic quality. The raw material quality has been validated by EcoControl and certified with the Nature Care Product label.

Vegan
neogrün®: All the ingredients we use are vegan. We refuse to engage in any form of animal exploitation and do not test our products on animals. Also, our pigments are of pure vegetable and mineral origin and do not include carmine or shellac. “NCP-vegan” label on our products guarantees that the entire production chain of raw materials does not include animal ingredients of involves animal-cruelty.

Energy- and resource-efficient
Faber-Castell covers 82 percent of the global energy demand from renewable sources. One third of the company's own forests remain untouched and provide habitats for around 660 indigenous animal and plant species. Faber-Castell sustainably manages 10,000 hectares of its own pine forests. These provide the raw material for our pencils and cover 86 percent of our worldwide wood demand. Every year, around 300,000 seedlings are planted in the company's own forests. We are growing one truckload of wood per hour. Faber-Castell uses 100 percent FSC or PEFC certified wood worldwide. All production sites in the Faber-Castell Group are certified according to the international norms (ISO 9001 / ISO 1400) to ensure that the quality and environmental protection standards are met. TÜV Rheinland ID 9108621070. More than 90 % of the wood used for the worldwide production of Faber-Castell pencils come from 100 % FSC-certified forests, and thus originate from responsible sources (FSC® C017601). Faber-Castell uses PEFC-certified wood as an alternative to FSC-certified wood. Both certification schemes ensure the sustainable management and use for forest resources (PEFC/04-31-1621). The Faber-Castell Group works on reducing plastics or replacing them with recycled materials.

Climate-friendly
Faber-Castell: Our own forests absorb more than 900,000 tonnes of CO2 and neutralise the emissions of our production sites. Carbon Neutral Production: Faber-Castell contributes to climate protection through the annual calculation and management of our carbon footprint from all production sites. The emissions are neutralized through the sequestration of carbon in our forests in Brazil. Certified by TÜV Rheinland ID 0000040930. neogrün® also uses electricity from renewable sources in our internal processes, always prefer CO2-neutral delivery services and avoid unnecessary packaging waste.

Reduction of pollutant
Waterbased Varnish: Faber-Castell was the first manufacturer to introduce the environmentally-friendly water-based varnish technology, which is used for almost all writing instruments produced at the main factory in Stein (Germany). As a world leader in the production of erasers, Faber-Castell avoids the use of harmful softeners. The erasers are produced under strict quality control and are PVC-free. neogrün®: Children discover the world with their entire body. To make their daily discoveries as safe as possible, we developed the non-toxic products made from natural and sustainable ingredients. All our products are microbiologically tested and free of parabens, azo dyes, petrochemicals and many other harmful substances that do not belong in the children products. Further, by eliminating milk, nuts, fish, soy and eggs, our products are free of the most common allergens. For higher transparency and maximum reliability, we voluntarily declare the ingredients on our packaging.
