The 29er bike SAYA is a groundbreaking bicycle designed in the spirit of the principles of the Circular Economy. Through its unique combination of upcycling and innovative technologies, the SAYA represents a groundbreaking alternative to conventional bicycles.
The SAYA stands for a new way of thinking that avoids waste and thinks in cycles. We are committed to saving used frames and carefully selected parts from the scrap press and upgrading them in our upcycling process. In doing so, we place particular emphasis on high durability, repairability and the possibility of refurbishment.
Our approach to "re-manufacturing" is also unique. We are happy to take back any bicycle we put on the market at some point. After we have carefully dismantled and refurbished it, it is produced again. In this way, we create a closed cycle and reduce the need for new production.
In the manufacturing process, we consistently rely on recycling. Most of the components of our bicycles can be recycled, and we are continuously working on finding sustainable alternatives for the plastics that cannot yet be recycled. By not using petroleum-based carbon, we contribute to the avoidance of hazardous waste.
Each SAYA bicycle is individually manufactured as required. We do not pre-produce large quantities, ensuring a sustainable balance between supply and demand.
To make the history of each SAYA bicycle traceable, it has an electronic product passport stored on an NFC tag. In cooperation with bicycle users and workshops, we are gaining valuable experience to prepare for future EU legislation on the Circular Economy.
Please note: We build environmentally conscious upcycled bicycles and use partly tested used parts for this, which we upgrade for further use. The appearance of these parts may differ from the parts shown in the pictures. The basic idea of the bicycle remains of course the same and the given specification applies, in which we also name the UpCycling parts as such.

Sustainability
This product meets the following sustainability criteria
The bikes are made with upcycled frames, cranks and derailleurs. Upcycled used parts are also used for rims, forks and seat posts. Instead of carbon, recyclable metal is used in perpetuity to reduce environmental impact. For the chainstay protection old tubes and tires are used, in the first layer handlebar tape, the second consists of compostable Snappap (paper + latex).
The Mosch Bikes team takes back all bikes that have been put into circulation, refurbishes them and puts them back into circulation. The bike professionals are continuously working on detailed solutions such as dismountable rear derailleurs and negotiating with suppliers on unresolved issues such as the recycling of plastic seals.
For Mosch Bikes, the principle of re-manufacturing is the guiding principle of bicycle manufacturing. By developing durable products that can be refurbished and used again and again over long periods of time, resources and energy are saved. This sets the bikes apart from the conventional concept, where the conventionally manufactured bike fails after a manageable period of time and must be replaced with a new one.
Elimination of conventional paint and powder coatings on the frame and fork, which can later only be removed chemically. The hydraulic brakes are filled with vegetable oil instead of mineral oil. Use of vegetable grease for shift cable lubrication and assembly. In addition, Mosch Bikes is in discussions with suppliers on how to replace petroleum-based lubrication in bearings and chain with plant-based lubrication.
By using steel for the frame, fork, stem and handlebars, the bikes from Mosch Bikes are generally designed for durability. But even with the smaller components, attention is paid to long durability. Chainring and chain outer plates are made of stainless steel and are particularly wear-resistant. The consistently durable bearings in hubs, headset and pedals are individually replaceable. The shift lever is as simple and robust as before. Stability goes before the last gram of weight savings.
